The concept is simple. Think about a time in the distant future, when humans (for whatever reason) might be struggling to survive, just like any endangered species today.
And today, design a habitat for them to survive and prosper in, to reproduce and stay as a viable species.
To survive as the best we can be with the barest minimum of technology.
Determine the best location for that in the world. A dozen or so locations would be good. Places that are lush and amenable to hunting and gathering (or perhaps just gathering).
Work out the best size of a community… I reckon a couple of thousand.
Come up with a social structure that works – maybe 10 villages of 200 each.
Adopt practices of growing things that enable an easy life.
Create a religion that holds steady the belief that out superiority should not lead to dominance.
Ask for volunteers.
See what happens. Minimum interaction with the outside world, presumably only for emergencies.
Funded by the greenest, most socialist nations, charities, and corporate sponsors. Funded by documentaries which are minimally invasive but perhaps very voyeuristic.
With dates for when public viewing ends, and they are on their own, not too different to great ape rehabilitations elsewhere. Where experts pop-in annually just to see how they are going.
Rewilding, us. It is about time we turned things on its head and at least attempt to make amends with the planet.
