Humans love progress, and are proud of the progress we make. But for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. What that means in terms of our progress is that literally every animal, vegetable and mineral on Earth suffers in reaction.
The hubris we have is undeniable, although you might need to be non-human to truly appreciate it. Name another species of animal or plant, or even rocks or fungi or slime, that has improved, that now has a better existence or more of anything, because of human progress. I suggest that our gains have been to the detriment of everything else that exists on our planet. We take.
Most humans who accept this premise will rationalize it. Typically in the shape of “we are superior”, “it is our birthright”, “God gave us dominion” or “kill or be killed”.
It is the same rationale as colonization.
It is the same rationale as capitalism that gives us people worth $100 billion, and people in poverty, in the same country.
It is the same rationale as “I need meat for nutrition”.
Humans are bullies and thieves. We take more than we give. We think that more materialism is progress. We act differently to everyone else on Earth. We are odd and different and essentially a cancer. On a democratic planet, where every living being got to vote, we would be voted out. Told to leave. Leave the game
